Dear Friends,
Siddartha is devoted to Agile computing and in 40 odd minutes we could just touch base on this topic at a very high level but it was an informative and thought proving talk. Siddharta is the founder of Silver Stripe Software, a Chennai based start-up that develops agile tools for teams. His personal blog is here.

Note: This time around our Skype connection did not support us the way it usually does. So the voice is breaking at some places and at some places we have some background noise because of slow connection or some other technical glitch which we just could not avoid this time. For podcast enthusiasts it should not matter too much. I hope :)

cheers !

Hello Friends,

I had a chance to record a very informal but informative podcast on software engineering with Shiv Sivaguru

Next week we will hopefully be back with one or more podcasts on -

(1) AWS (2) Hadoop (3) Cloud Security (4) Android

Below are the show notes for this episode -

Note # 1)

The Canadian Council of Professional Engineers (CCPE) sued Memorial University of Newfoundland in federal court for trademark infringement over the use of the term engineering in a degree program with a specialty in “software engineering”.

This finally got resolved

Note # 2)

Guide to the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge

Note # 3)

Dear Listeners,

Very recently I have had a great chat with T Ashok around software testing. He is a CEO of Stag Software, which focuses in creating unique testing solutions for their clients worldwide. In around 45 minutes Ashok did touch base on various facades of testing. Software testing is an old topic which has become very exciting in recent years but yet many of us don't recognize this excitement. This podcast is a must listen if you are tester, or even if you have some keen interest in software  development in general. If you want to reach out to their blog, it's here.

cheers !

Friends,
This time we have an author and researcher in our show ! Subhajit Datta is a researcher with IBM and is also very passionate about writing. He has written two interesting books Software Engineering: Concepts and Applications and Metrics-Driven Enterprise Software Development. He is also a visiting professor in IIITB. In this episode we talked about a topic which always makes us think - software engineering in theory and practice.

We know some form of it is taught but how much of theory is enough to bring it to practice ? We tried covering this rather difficult topic and it was very nice chat.

Subhajit also maintains a blog which is here.

Note: Around 35 minutes into the recording speaker has refereed to the "WISWYG syndrome" and then gone on to explain it as "I Know it Once I See it". Speaker meant "IKIWISI syndrome" and not "WISWYG"

cheers !

Dear Friends,

This is our first podcast where Vijay and myself came together and recorded the same.

1) It's informal and that's intentional :) You might need your headphones to listen to it or a good external speaker will do. You can listen to it on our website or even download it by right clicking it on the mp3 link and saving the file. It's around 28 mins odd.

2) We thought we will touch base on 3 to 4 news items out of zillions of things going around and making news. We could in this podcast talk a bit about Twitter, HTTPS, Security, Google and finally Duck Duck Go ! They too were all in news for some reason or the other . . .

3) We recorded this podcast with very basic equipment and edited it with skills that we are not very proud of :) but we can assure you that as we go along we will get better. So you will have excuse me (it was not Vijay!) from punching the keys on my laptop (it is annoying) while recording this and of course for a few other goof-ups!

4) We are already planning to cover AWS, Hadoop and our next News podcast. This will all happen very soon as we are talking to folks who might be interested in recording with us

Vijay and me will continue doing newscasts and you can join us too - just drop us a line @ bangaloresoftwareradio@gmail.com

Now on to the show notes from our first podcast -

Note # 1)

some twitter number's were picked from here

Note # 2)

HTTPS and browser caching issues, in this URL IE related issue

Note # 3)

Trip Advisor getting hacked and what they say about it

Note # 4)

OWASP

Note # 5)

Duck Duck Go , read some cool stuff here and here

cheers !
